but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; 1 Peter 3:15 NASB
Although this video rightfully calls those that actively participate in abortion (including the mother) murderers, it proclaims hope and forgiveness that is only found in Jesus Christ. This is a call to the professing Christian church to act like Christians. Out of a love for God we are to love others by proclaiming to everyone the truth of the Gospel. For only through the message of the Gospel will hearts be transformed by the Holy Spirit to see the sinfulness of sin and the holiness of God. This is a sad and sobering video but watch it anyway. May the Lord use it for His glory and the salvation of souls and babies.
Beautiful Eulogy released their second album this week entitled Instruments of Mercy. Their first album Satellite Kite was my first introduction to them. On this new release, as with their first, they stand out as a group of very talented artists. Their lyrics are carefully written to adhere faithfully to the Word of God yet are crafted into poetic harmony. There is a sense that the words that are spoken are of utmost importance because they are delivered with clarity and urgency. Underneath the lyrics, flow melodies and subtle beats that compliment without overpowering the message. Please give them a listen and be edified. They are from the label Humble Beast where you can find other very talented artists.
Yes, our leaders are responsible for their actions and for how they lead a nation. But the people are responsible for their leaders in as much as they select those that lead them. Our great sin is to desire and trust in a human leader more than the true King that deserves our honor and service. The Lord will yet bless our nation if we would repent and turn to Him.
Now therefore, here is the king whom you have chosen, whom you have asked for, and behold, the LORD has set a king over you. “If you will fear the LORD and serve Him, and listen to His voice and not rebel against the command of the LORD, then both you and also the king who reigns over you will follow the LORD your God. “If you will not listen to the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the command of the LORD, then the hand of the LORD will be against you, as it was against your fathers. 1 Samuel 12:13-15 NASB
Our Pastor writes short emails and sends them out every few days to church members and anyone else that is interested. We just started posting those emails as blog posts on the church website. The one from Friday entitled “What Is Your Motivation”, struck a little close to home. That means I need to repent.
Pastor Jeff states that Christians are “left here to be used of God to make His name great among the nations by bringing lost souls into the Kingdom”. That seems pretty clear and is backed up by the Bible. He then asks , “How are you doing?” I don’t know about you but I am not doing that well. I want to do better. I know it is a command. I just fall short or more often that not just fail to try at all. Then the heart revealing question is asked, ” If you could make $1000 every time you shared the Gospel with someone, would that make you more motivated to share your faith?” I know the right answer. I know what the answer should be. But I know my heart. I cling to the things of this world. I seek often the praise of men. I fear rejection. So I fail to obey the Lord. What would your answer be? What does it reveal?
May we seek only to please the Lord and to make His name great not our own.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:25-34 ESV
