Teach Them Diligently

According to the Bible, parents and more specifically fathers are responsible for the education of their children. But not only does God dictate who is responsible, He dictates what is to be taught. The teachings we give to our children are first and foremost to be the Words of God. The Words of God bring life and have eternal value. When we talk with others about educating our children, it can quickly polarize around methods – home schooling, public schooling, private schooling – or a blend. But if the responsibility of educating our children is ours as parents and if the most important subject we can teach our children is the Bible, the methods begin to be viewed differently. What method(s) support God’s mandate to teach our children His Word? What method(s) do not support or even contradict that command? When we talk about education, that is the core concern. The value of a good job is acknowledged but only in temporal terms. The education that lasts is the one founded on the Word of God. The souls of our children are at stake, so consider the methods and the substance of your children’s education. This is your responsibility as parents.
